This outfit was planned around this beautiful Sonia Rykiel skirt that I got from that same yard sale! On a side note: seriously, that was such an amazing sale, and I really can't believe it was all so cheap! This skirt is probably not the best idea for summer but seeing that it is 65 degrees in my office, it still works. At the bottom if you look closely you can see the stitching detail that keeps this skirt from being too plain-Jane. 

Yikes! Looking at this picture makes me realize that I am in desperate need of doing something with the color of my hair. Don't you hate that when you see yourself in a picture and you notice something wrong that you never noticed before? 

Stripes + Florals

This is my (work friendly) take on the blogger trend of stripes and florals together. It is a completely different approach to the look than I have seen before on blogs and places like Chictopia. The color palette is very soft and you can barely tell that there are stripes on the jacket. It is hard to tell but the shirt is sheer and has an all over flower pattern. Three different floral prints in one outfit! This skirt is from a phase where the majority of my closet was florals but now I only have a few pieces.

I do realize that this outfit really washes out my skin tone but it perfectly matches my "Mae" necklace so I had to wear it! :)

I am so thankful that LA is not experiencing a heatwave like the rest of the country, because normally it's insanely hot here. I wasn't meant for hot weather, it makes me so cranky. I am most certainly an indoor child. You might have already guessed that though from my very pale skin. 

This outfit unfortunately did not photograph as well as I had hoped, but I did get compliments on it from my co-workers. Oh well, some pieces of clothing just photograph better than others. The colors of the flowers in the shirt match the color of the skirt. These shoes have been loved to death by me and are starting to fall apart. I will be really sad when that finally happens! In the mean time I am going to try and keep that from happening. 

I'm sorry for everyone else who is experiencing the heat wave right now!

This weekend was casual and busy at the same time so I settled on a variation of one of my favorite outfits. This outfit was built around the clogs, then the jeans and lastly the shirt. This shirt from Forever21 is one of my favorites because it is so soft, stretchy and has a great design. Unfortunately, there isn't a picture of the back of this shirt because it has an interesting cut out design. If I ever see this shirt again in our colors, I will definitely buy them all! After I picked the shirt I instinctively put this necklace on because the neckline of the shirt perfectly displays the necklace. I added the ring as part of an attempt to get out of my comfort zone of only wearing earrings and necklaces and more into rings and bracelets. And lastly, I had to show off my nailpolish that has (mostly) lasted an entire week (including several trips in the spa/pool)!!!

I got my wish for hot weather this weekend just in time for our backyard pool parties. I had a hard time picking out an outfit that was dressy but also cool enough for the 90 degree temperatures. The dress that I settled on is a vintage dress that was given to me by one of my parents friends. She cleaned out her closet a few years ago and gave my sister and I the dresses that were still in good condition.

My friends in college always made fun of this dress whenever I wore it. They called it my grandma dress. How sad! I love his dress. It was a lot longer but my mom hemmed it for me several inches so the length is a lot more flattering. I wish that I could find 6 more dresses exactly like this one in different patterns. Then I could have one for every day of the week when it is too hot to wear anything else this summer. I hope that everyone had a great memorial day weekend!
